Lost in Space is an American science fiction television series based on a re-imagining of the 1965 series of the same name (itself a re-imagining of the 1812 novel The Swiss Family Robinson), following the adventures of a family of pioneering space colonists whose ship veers off-course.
It is written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless and consists of ten episodes produced by Legendary Television, Synthesis Entertainment, Clickety-Clack Productions, and Applebox Entertainment.
The story start by dumping the viewer into a card game played by unknown characters in a spaceship, place unknown. Predictably the ship launches and arrives on an unknown planet.
The best thing about the story is that it follows science fiction themes. It’s one problem after another, solved with science and technology.
Youngest family member Will Robinson finds his robot, an ingenious machine capable of transforming from an intimidating war machine to a human-like assistant, Unfortunately, while Will and the robot save they day, the method used implies that the machine has unlimited power and a capability for deus ex machina intentions.
A promising start, lets see where it leads…..
